Have you ever been to Urumchi, Capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomou Region①? Have you any idea of what the city i like? The city of Urumchi i now very large, very modern and very beautiful.
Since liberation the city ha developed rapidly. Now Urumchi i a modern city with a population of 1,200,000. Many treet have been widened. And high building are being put up day and night. Factorie and chool are everywhere. The whole city i full of life!
In the centre of the city there i the Red Hill. When you climb up the hill, you will get a bird＇-eye view② of the city. Green tree are een everywhere. A bridge over the Urumchi River join the old city with the new city. The Wet Park tand in the middle of the city. Here the blue ky i reflected in the Mirror Lake, bird ing and the garden are full of flower. What a beautiful picture the city i!
Urumchi lie at the foot of the Tianhan Mountain. It i 960 metre above ea level againt the background of the white peak of the Baokuda Mountain. The climate here i mild, neither very cold in winter nor very hot in ummer. It i really an ideal③ health reort④!
On hot ummer day, when tree hang over the road, the whole city i hidden from view. Thi make the city all the more attractive. When night come, ome Uygur girl and boy walk out into the treet, dancing and inging. What a happy life they live!
In winter, when the city i covered with now, it look a clear a ice and a pure a gem⑤. Young people come out to kate, play nowball fight, or put up nowmen. How facinating⑥ the winter of the city i!
Today, Urumchi ha become the political, economical and cultural centre of the Autonomou Region.
“Urumchi” mean “beautiful graland” in Mongolian. Now, the beautiful graland ha turned itelf into a modern city.
